Motorists should expect delays on I-35 in Pine County
Resurfacing and bridge project about halfway completed
DULUTH, Minn. —A resurfacing and bridge project on I-35 between Hinckley and Pine City is slightly more than hallway completed and motorists should continue to expect delays, especially on holidays and weekends.
Northbound I-35 is closed at the St. Croix Valley Bridge, which is located about two miles south of Hinckley.
All northbound and southbound traffic are using the southbound lanes in a head-to-head traffic configuration. The County Road 11 (Pine City) ramps and County Road 14 (Beroun) ramps are currently closed as part of this project.
To avoid delays, MnDOT suggests taking alternate routes, traveling at off-peak times and checking 511mn.org for the latest traffic information.
MnDOT also reminds motorists to drive with caution in the work zones. There have been several crashes on this project since it began. Most of these crashes have been minor, however one very serious crash earlier this summer delayed motorists up to four hours. Even a minor crash can cause traffic to come to a complete stop.
The project will be completed in late-October 2016. The completed project will improve safety and mobility.
