Southbound Hwy 52/Lafayette bridge in St. Paul closed this weekend
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The southbound Highway 52/Lafayette bridge in St. Paul will close this weekend so construction crews can apply a coating to the concrete driving surface of the bridge.
The bridge, which crosses the Mississippi River east of downtown St. Paul, will close at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 between Interstate 94 and Plato Boulevard, south of the river.
During the closure motorists will need to find an alternate route or follow the signed detours:
- Eastbound I-94/southbound I-35E: South on Hwy 61, west on I-494 to Highway 52.
- 7th Street: Mounds Blvd to eastbound I-94 and follow the eastbound I-94 detour.
- Westbound I-94: West on 6th Street, south on Robert Street and east on Plato Boulevard
Weather permitting, the southbound bridge will reopen to all traffic by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19.
