Orange barrels on a highway

Eastbound Hwy 36 ramps at Lexington Avenue reopen tonight

The end is here!

Minor work continues into December

ROSEVILLE, Minn – Despite this afternoon’s blustery winter weather, construction crews are on track to reopen the ramps at eastbound Hwy 36 and Lexington Ave in Roseville. The ramps from eastbound Hwy 36 to Lexington Ave. and from Lexington Ave. to eastbound Hwy 36 will be open to traffic by 9 p.m. tonight. And that will mark the end of closures for construction of the two new Hwy 36 bridges over Lexington Avenue this year.

However, not all work is complete. Motorists will still encounter an all-way stop where the east and west ramps and Lexington Avenue meet on each side of the bridge. Drivers will have to stop and take turns until final work is completed on the signal system in early December. Some minor cleanup work also remains into December.

Replacement of the old Hwy 36 bridge with two new bridges to carry eastbound and westbound Hwy 36 traffic began in mid-April. We also rebuilt and resurfaced the ramps at Lexington Ave. and the westbound ramps at Hamline Ave. as well as the ramp from Dale Street to westbound Hwy 36. MnDOT also reconstructed and resurfaced Hwy between Hamline Ave. and Victoria St. in early October.

The new Hwy 36 bridges are longer lasting, smoother, wider and more modern structures.
