Nine Mile Creek bridge closure on Hwy 169 in Edina/Minnetonka to start Jan. 10
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter lane and ramp closures on Highway 169 between Edina and Minnetonka as the Nine Mile Creek Bridge closes for construction.
The bridge closes at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 and is expected to remain closed into October. The bridge closure and lane reductions are necessary as crews remove the Nine Mile Creek Bridge and replace it with a causeway.
The southbound ramp from Fifth Street/Lincoln Avenue will be closed. The ramp from northbound 169 to Fifth and Lincoln will also close. The northbound ramp from Bren to 169 will be closed, as will the ramp from southbound 169 to Bren Road.
Southbound Highway 169 from Excelsior Boulevard to Seventh Street and northbound Highway 169 from Highway 62 to Bren Road will be reduced to one lane to reduce traffic traveling toward the bridge closure. The westbound I-394 to southbound Highway 169 exit ramp will also be closed for the project duration to reduce traffic in the corridor and to improve safety.
Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour to bypass the closure:
- Northbound detour: Eastbound Highway 62, Northbound Highway 100, Westbound I-394 to Highway 169
- Southbound detour: Westbound I-394, Southbound I-494 to Highway 169
Lane and ramp improvements on Highway 169 north of the bridge to Highway 55 will start in the spring.
