Long-term single lane restriction on northbound Interstate 35W in Lino Lakes begins Wednesday, May 1
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling on northbound Interstate 35W between half a mile south of Freeway Drive and I-35 in Lino Lakes should expect delays as northbound I-35W is reduced to a single lane beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1.
Northbound I-35W will remain restricted to a single lane of traffic until early November 2019, as crews resurface I-35/I-35W/I-35E between just south of the I-35W/I-35E split and Highway 97 and complete construction of the new northbound I-35W bridge over I-35E.
Traffic delays and backups are expected throughout the construction season. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Construction for the project is expected to conclude by late November 2019.
The work is part of the I-35 North Metro Split project, which includes resurfacing the existing pavement from the I-35W/I-35E split to Highway 8; replacing the Highway 97 bridge with a diverging diamond interchange; replacing the northbound I-35W bridge over I-35E and the westbound Highway 8 bridge over I-35. The project will provide a better ride quality, as well as improve safety and traffic flow at the Highway 97 interchange.
