Eastbound I-94 lane closures in Washington County begin April 4

Roseville, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a long-term eastbound lane closure on Interstate 94 between Oakdale and Woodbury starting April 4 when the Minnesota Department of Transportation resumes construction between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River. This is the final year of the three-year I-94 Oakdale to Lakeland reconstruction project.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, April 4, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between Highway 120/Century Avenue and Woodbury Drive while construction crews shift traffic toward the shoulder. Then at 5 a.m. Friday, April 5, eastbound I-94 will be reduced, with vehicles using up to three lanes until the middle of July. The lane closure is necessary as crews prepare to pave the westbound lanes of I-94.

Crews also anticipate closing the entrance ramp from Highway 120/Century Avenue to eastbound I-94 starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, April 4 through the fall. Motorists can bypass the ramp closure by using Highway 120/Century Avenue, Hudson Road, McKnight Road, and eastbound I-94.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.

MnDOT will be resurfacing the pavement and making other improvements to I-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River through fall 2024. The work will improve safety, traffic flow and ride smoothness.
