Interstate 90 High Forest Rest Area closed March 11 for well repairs

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. — The eastbound Interstate 90 High Forest Rest Area near Stewartville will be closed Tuesday, March 11 for crews to complete well repairs, and other wood debris, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The rest area at eastbound I-90 mile marker 202 will close at 7 a.m. and reopen by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.  The rest area will be without water during the repair, so the exit will be barricaded. Crews will reopen the rest area as soon as repairs are completed.

The next eastbound rest area is the Enterprise Rest Area at mile marker 244. There are other exits before the next rest area with access to restrooms and other facilities in nearby towns.
Safety
Drivers traveling too fast and not paying attention are the main causes of work zone crashes. Follow these safe driving tips:

  • Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
  • Drive undistracted. Avoid using phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating – while in work zones.
  • Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.
  • Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
  • Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
  • Expect work zones to constantly change. Day to day you could experience lane shifts, closures, narrower lanes, moving workers and vehicles.

Stay connected, informed
