No travel advised on state highways in southeast Minnesota because of snow, wind

ROCHESTER, Minn. (1:30 p.m.) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has issued a no travel advisory on all state and federal highways in southeast Minnesota because snow and wind conditions are making travel dangerous.

MnDOT’s 101 snowplows in its 11-county southeast Minnesota district are on the road from the Iowa border north to Highway 19 and from the Mississippi River west to Interstate 35. This includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, Winona).

Tow truck responses are also not advised until conditions improve. 

A potent winter storm continues to impact the region. Snow is falling at rapid rates and winds will gust to 45 mph, causing blizzard conditions. Travel will be hazardous to dangerous through tonight. Drivers are encouraged to alter their plans to avoid traveling during this winter storm.
