ESS Dispatch

Metro signal and lighting problems are called into the ESS dispatchers who then route the issues to the appropriate Electronic Technician or Highway Signal Technician to be addressed. Dispatchers are also responsible for receiving and monitoring all Gopher State One Call Tickets sent to MnDOT for utility locations. Dispatchers work with Gopher State One Call to enter in any new MnDOT utilities to insure that MnDOT receives tickets when necessary.

Gopher State One Call locating

Per Minnesota State Statute, underground facility owners are required to register their underground facilities with Gopher State One Call. Excavators, including homeowners, are responsible for notifying Gopher State One Call prior to digging, giving utility owners 48 hours to mark their utilities. Locators are responsible for responding to and locating MnDOT utilities within the metro area when tickets are sent from Gopher State One Call.

Electronic technician unit

This group provides statewide support for electronic components related to signals, lighting and unique ITS devices such as the Rural Intersection Conflict Warning Systems (RICWS). All signal cabinets to be installed on a MnDOT signal system are built up by this unit and cabinet prints drawn. Support is provided for signal problems in and near the metro area and through Greater Minnesota by telephone support or visits when needed;24 hours a day/7days a week/365 days a year.

Metro electrical maintenance

This unit maintains all the electrical systems in the Metro Area related to Signals, Lighting and other unique systems such as the Stillwater Lift Bridge and Lowry Hill tunnel lighting. Highway Signal Technicians, who are licensed electricians, are called upon 24 hours a day/7days a week/365 days a year.

Greater MN electrical maintenance

With offices in St. Cloud, Rochester, Duluth, Detroit Lakes and Mankato this unit maintains all Electrical Systems related to Signals, Lighting and ITS devices in Greater Minnesota. This group is made up of Lead Electricians who also install electrical systems and assist in construction inspections when needed. Some specialty systems maintained include the Duluth Tunnel Lighting, Weigh Stations, Road Closure Systems and High Water warning system.

Greater MN ITS integration

Located in St. Cloud this unit provides ITS Integration services to Greater MN Districts. Working with the staff from the Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC), ITS devices are brought on-line and into working condition for Greater MN Districts.
