Hwy 13 Waseca signal replacement requires tree removal
MANKATO, Minn. – Weather permitting, Monday, March 22 Waseca residents will see a tree removed at the intersection of Highway 13 (State Street) and 7th Avenue North in preparation for a signal replacement project this summer.
By law, the lone tree needs to be removed before protected bats make their homes.
The traffic signal, located near Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services on State Street, needs to be replaced with a model that meets today’s standards and current American Disability Act requirements. The project, which is tentatively scheduled for June, also includes updating the curb, sidewalks and catch basins.
While Highway 13 traffic will not be impacted, the work at the intersection will require the closure of 7th Avenue to the west for a block for about one month. Funeral home access will be available from State Street.
River City Electric of Mankato is the primary contractor for these projects.
MnDOT will send another announcement prior to the actual start of construction. Anyone interested in more information can contact MnDOT Project Manager Mathew Thibert at 507-381-0393 and firstname.lastname@example.org or Construction Engineer Dan Franta at 507-327-2540 and Daniel.email@example.com .
