Northbound I-35 closure scheduled Friday, March 26 in Duluth
Duluth, Minn. – Beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 26, northbound I-35 will close near 27th Avenue West in Duluth. During the closure, traffic will be routed up and back down the 27th Avenue West ramps. Closures are anticipated to last through the evening of Saturday, March 27. This work is needed as crews continue to install bridge deck and girders for the new 27th Avenue West Bridge.
As a reminder, southbound I-35 will also be closed near 27th Avenue West beginning at 8 p.m. on March 19 and lasting through the evening of March 20. Motorist should be advised that there will be a temporary restricted height clearance of 14’ to 6” over the southbound lanes. There is a “Low Clearance Detection” warning system installed to detect over height vehicles. Over height vehicles will be directed to use the ramps up and down at 27th.
Other work happening the week on March 22, includes:
- Working on the substructures for two of the four bridges connecting I-35 and Highway 53.
- Cofferdam installation for construction of the outlet section of the new Miller/Coffee Creek culvert.
