Repairs, resurfacing on I-94/I-694 in Brooklyn Center begin Monday, April 12
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Repairs and resurfacing on Interstate 94/694 between Brooklyn Boulevard and Dupont Avenue begin Monday, April 12 in Brooklyn Center. The project also includes drainage improvements, signal system work and upgrading pedestrian/bicycle crossings throughout the corridor to meet Americans with Disabilities Act Standards. Those improvements include traffic signals, ramp and sidewalk updates.
As preliminary work begins at 10 p.m. on Sunday evening, April 11, motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions of the interstate between Brooklyn Boulevard and Highway 100 to cover signs and remove pavement markings from the roadway.
Beginning Monday morning, April 12, the ramp from Brooklyn Boulevard to eastbound I-94/694 and the ramp from westbound I-94/694 to Brooklyn Boulevard will close until mid-May. During the closure, traffic will detour west on I-94/694 to Hennepin County Road 81/Bottineau Boulevard and back east on I-94/694.
The project also requires four weekend directional closures on I-94/694 between Brooklyn Boulevard and Highway 100. All weekend closures will start at 10 p.m. on Fridays and continue through 5 a.m. the following Mondays. The full directional closures are:
- Westbound: Friday, April 16 through Monday, April 19, and Friday, April 30 until Monday, May 3.
- Eastbound: Friday, April 23 to Monday, April 26 and Friday, May 7 to Monday, May 10.
All weekend closures are weather dependent.
The posted detour for all these closures is Highway 100, I-394, Highway 169 and back to I-94/694.
Weather permitting, all work will be completed by early June.
