Hwy 99 Nicollet to St. Peter Stage 2 Detour to start May 25
MANKATO, Minn. – Highway 99 motorists from Nicollet to St. Peter are advised that the Stage 2 detour will begin Tuesday, May 25 and traffic will be detoured to Highway 111, Nicollet County Road 5 and continue to the intersection with Highway 169.
The Stage 2 detour will be utilized for two weeks to allow for culvert work and guardrail replacement on the eastern end of the project.
On Tuesday, June 8, the Stage 1 detour will be implemented again, detouring traffic to Highway 111, and Nicollet County Roads 5 and 40. The Stage 1 detour will remain in place until the completion of the project in mid-August.
The contractor has been making good progress on the project and wants to take advantage of the favorable weather conditions to perform the culvert work on the east end of the project.
The project includes resurfacing 11 miles of Highway 99 from Birch Street in Nicollet to the south intersection with Highway 169 in St. Peter, replacement of box culverts, replacing and lining several culverts, adding lighting at two county road intersections, and lengthening the right turn lane at Nicollet County Road 13.
The Mathiowetz Construction Co. of Sleepy Eye was awarded the project with a bid of $4,988,902.63
