NOTE: Due to weather, the start of the Highway 22 Mankato roundabout pavement markings replacement has been postponed until the evening of July 7, 2021

Update: Revised overnight hours for Hwy 22, Mankato, roundabout work

MANKATO, Minn. – MnDOT contractors will close Highway 22 at Madison Avenue for nighttime work from 7:30 PM to 6:30 AM starting Tuesday, July 6 to replace failing pavement markings.

Work at the Madison Avenue roundabout is expected to occur each night from July 6 to July 8, and on July 11, weather permitting. While the Madison Avenue roundabout is closed, crossing of Highway 22 will be allowed at Adams Street as well as access to and from Highway 22 north of Adams Street until 10:00 p.m.

Nighttime work for pavement marking replacements on the Adams Street roundabout is scheduled to begin on July 12.  While the Adams Street roundabout is closed, crossing of Highway 22 will be allowed at Madison Avenue as well as access to and from Highway 22 south of Madison Avenue. Work at the Adams Street roundabout will be completed before 6:30 AM on July 16, weather permitting.

Detours for all closed roads remain unchanged.

Northbound Highway 22 traffic will be detoured to Hoffman Road, Blue Earth County Road 12, Blue Earth County Road 17, Blue Earth County Road 56, and US 14.  Southbound Highway 22 traffic will be detoured to US 14, Blue Earth County Road 86, Blue Earth County Road 17, Blue Earth County Road 12, and Hoffman Road.

Madison Avenue traffic will be detoured to Raintree Road, Bassett Drive, and Carver Road.  Adams Street traffic will be detoured to Raintree Road, Bassett Drive, Carver Road, Madison Avenue, and Haefner Drive.

The revised hours and increased levels of access are the result of partnering efforts between MnDOT, Century Fence Company, the project’s prime contractor, and Warning Lites of Minnesota, the project’s traffic control contractor.

Century Fence Company of Forest Lake was awarded the project with a bid of $455,666.00.  The project includes replacement of the striping and pavement messages at the two roundabouts which were constructed in 2013, as well as along US 169 in Saint Peter, from the south junction of Highway 22 to north of Chestnut Street.
