Northbound Hwy 52 on-ramp detour at Civic Center Drive planned July 20 for noise wall repairs in Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists on Civic Center Drive/Hwy 14 who use the northbound Hwy 52 on-ramp in Rochester will be detoured from 5 a.m. to late afternoon on Tuesday, July 20 while the ramp is closed for crews to repair the noise wall, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The detour is necessary to allow work crews to repair noise wall damage caused during a crash. The northbound Hwy 52 right lane will also be closed during this timeframe from the Civic Center ramp to near the 19th Street exit.
In case of severe weather or other unforeseen interruptions, work will take place on July 21 or July 22.
Eastbound and westbound motorists on Civic Center Drive/Hwy 14 who want to travel north on Hwy 52 should go south on Hwy 52 and exit at Second Street Southwest to connect with Hwy 52 north. Signs will be placed to help motorists navigate the detour.
Motorists may encounter lane closures or lane shifts, uneven road surfaces, equipment and other unexpected obstacles when driving near or through work zones. MnDOT advises motorists to:
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times
- Go hands-free and minimize other distractions (e.g., don’t eat or drink while driving)
- Follow posted speed limits; the fine for speeding in a work zone is $300
- Avoid making lane changes within work zones
