Lincoln Park intersection closures begin Monday, August 16
DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists will encounter dual intersection closures at 22nd Avenue West and West Michigan Street and at 22nd Avenue West and West Superior Street beginning Monday, August 16. Concurrent closures will last through Friday, August 20 and are needed as part of the Twin Ports Interchange project. During the closures traffic will be detoured to West 1st Street and West 3rd Street.
The intersection of West Superior Street and 22nd Avenue West will reopen in mid-September. Work on the new Coffee Creek culvert has been temporarily halted for approximately two weeks to allow utility work at the Michigan Street intersection to progress and minimize the duration of concurrent intersection closures. Closing the intersection now will allow the project to resume according to schedule.
Michigan Street between 21st Avenue West and 23rd Avenue West will open the afternoon of Friday, August 20. During the weeklong concurrent closures, crews will finish needed utility work to Michigan Street as part of the relocation of Coffee Creek. Once reopen, Michigan Street will be open from 21st Avenue West to 27th Avenue West.
Motorists are encouraged to check 511mn.org before traveling for information on road conditions, closures and detour routes. To learn more about the Twin Ports Interchange project visit mndot.gov/d1/projects/twin-ports-interchange, or call the Twin Ports Interchange Hotline at 218-343-3748.
