MnDOT to host public open house on April 7 for Hwys 15/60 projects near Madelia
MANKATO, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) invites the public to attend an in-person construction open house on Thursday, April 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. to learn about two upcoming improvement projects on Hwy 15 and Hwy 15/60 near Madelia. The open house will be held at the Madelia Golf Course Clubhouse located at 519 Christensen Dr. There is no formal presentation planned, and attendees are welcome to arrive anytime.
Hwy 15 project
Approximately five miles of Hwy 15 from the north Hwy 15/60 interchange to the Watonwan/Brown County line near Madelia will be resurfaced. Construction is expected to begin in mid-July and be completed by November 2022, weather permitting. The project will be primarily constructed under traffic, with a detour in place during bridge work.
The project includes resurfacing the roadway, lighting, culvert repair, installing snow fence, and updating bridges. Visit the project website for more information.
Hwy 15/60 project
MnDOT will resurface seven miles of Hwy 15/60 from the Hwy 15/60 interchange south of Madelia to the Hwy 15/60 interchange north of Madelia. The eastbound lanes will be under construction beginning in mid-April, and construction is expected to be completed by November 2022, weather permitting. The westbound lanes will be under construction in 2023. Traffic will be impacted with a combination of detours and head-to-head traffic configurations.
The project will include resurfacing the roadway, lighting, drainage repairs, updating guardrail and rehabbing several bridges. Visit the project website for detour maps and more information.
