MnDOT to host public open house on April 12 for Hwy 86 Lakefield project
Construction expected to begin mid-April
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) invites the public to attend an in-person open house on Tuesday, April 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lakefield City Hall, 301 Main Street, to learn about the Hwy 86 project and prepare for construction expected to begin in mid-April. There is no formal presentation planned, and attendees are welcome to arrive anytime.
Staff from MnDOT and the contractor will be present at the open house to provide more information about the project and answer questions.
MnDOT will reconstruct approximately 1.3 miles of Hwy 86 through Lakefield. The project will include grading, pavement, utility replacement, lighting, drainage, and sidewalk reconstruction.
Weather permitting, construction is expected to begin in mid-April and be completed by mid-November. Hwy 86 through Lakefield will be closed during construction and traffic detoured. Project benefits and cost
Benefits of the project includes improved pedestrian accommodations, updated utilities, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor. R & R Excavating, Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $8,295,538.92.
