Public invited to provide feedback on future of Hwy65 in Blaine at May 24 public meeting

Roseville, Minn. – MnDOT along with the city of Blaine and Anoka County invites area residents and businesses to attend an open house-style public meeting on Tuesday, May 24 in Blaine. During the in-person meeting, the public will have an opportunity to provide input on planned improvements to Hwy65 between 97th Avenue and 119th Avenue that will improve safety, lower crash rates and provide better bicycle/pedestrian access. Experts from the Hwy65 project team will be available to discuss and answer any questions you have about the project, including project background, public engagement, evaluation, project schedule and benefits.
The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at the National Sports Center Welcome Center Grand Hall, 1700 105th Ave NE Blaine, Minn. There will not be a formal presentation and people are invited to stop by anytime during meeting hours.

For those who are unable to attend the in-person meeting, there is a virtual house option available on the website at www.BlaineMN.gov/ThriveOn65. The virtual option is self-paced and covers all of the same topics available to learn at the in-person open house.

Hwy65 is a vital link that connects communities in the Twin Cities metro area and provides access to greater Minnesota. Hwy65 was the focus of a Planning and Environmental Linkages Study (PEL) from 2018-2021. The corridor was the focus of a Planning and Environmental Linkages Study from 2018-2019 that identified several issues with Hwy65 that need to be addressed to improve safety, lower crash rates and improve bicycle/pedestrian access.

MnDOT encourages participation by all. If you need an ASL, a foreign language interpreter, or other reasonable accommodation, or need documents in an alternative format (such as braille or large print), please email your request to Janet Miller at ADArequest.dot@state.mn.us or call 651-366-4720.
