MnDOT to host public open house on June 7 for Hwy 22 Mankato to St. Peter project
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an in-person open house on Tuesday, June 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kasota Community Center, 200 N. Webster Street, to learn about the Hwy 22 project from Mankato to St. Peter. The two-year project is tentatively planned to start construction in 2024.
This is the second of three open houses planned this summer for the Hwy 22 project. Staff from MnDOT will be available to provide information about the project, including the roadway improvements and a potential future DNR trail. There is no formal presentation planned, and attendees are welcome to arrive any time.
MnDOT will reconstruct Hwy 22 from south of Blue Earth County Road 57 in Mankato to just south of the Minnesota River Bridge in St. Peter. To improve safety and traffic flow, turn lanes will be added throughout and intersections will be improved, including a Continuous T at Blue Earth CR 57, intersection realignment at Blue Earth CR 2, and a roundabout at Le Sueur CR 21. Additionally, a roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Hwy 22 and Augusta Drive in Mankato.
Additional Hwy 22 project open houses have been underway, including one held on May 25 at the Mankato Regional Airport, as well as one planned on June 28 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the St. Peter Community Center, 600 S. 5th Street. More details will be shared in the near future.
