Hwy 9 bridge construction near Norcross begins June 13
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Starting Monday, June 13, Highway 9 will close between Highway 55 and Highway 27, as crews replace the bridge over the Mustinka River near Norcross. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 27 and Highway 75.
The work will be isolated to the bridge site at the Mustinka River, and the roadway will be impassable to all traffic at that location. Residents and other local traffic will be able to access the highway north and south of the Mustinka River but will need to use the detour or find an alternate route to get around the bridge location. The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
RR Schroeder Construction, Inc., of Glenwood, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $1.2 million project. For more information about the project, visit mndot.gov/d4/projects/hwy9mustinka.
A reminder to area travelers that a portion of Highway 55 is also closed for a resurfacing project between the Minnesota/North Dakota State Line and County Road 11 in Wendell. Depending on your destination and direction of travel, you may encounter both project detours on your route.
