Watch for Hwy 10 work zone near Benton County Road 33

Crews to begin bridge work June 27

St. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel on Highway 10 through Benton County will encounter lane closures and one-lane traffic in each direction northwest of Sauk Rapids as bridge work begins the week of June 27, 2022.

MnDOT will replace a box bridge under both directions of Highway 10 at a stream located three miles northwest of Sauk Rapids between the Benton County Road 33 interchange and 66th Street NE.

Here’s what to expect June 27 through September 2022:

Prep work: June 27–early July

Install temporary crossovers in the median and prepare work areas.

  • Expect periodic lane closures, lane shifts, reduced speeds and shoulder closures.

Construct: July 11–late August

Close and replace one side of the box bridge at a time.

  • One lane, each way, 24/7
  • Use alternate routes or travel at off-peak hours
  • Plan for reduced speeds, lane shifts and sudden stops or delays at busy times

Wrap-up work: September

Remove temporary crossovers, establish turf along shoulders, install high-tension cable barrier and wrap up project

  • Expect periodic lane closures, lane shifts, reduced speeds and shoulder closures

Landwehr Construction, St. Cloud, is the prime contractor for the $1.5 million project that will reduce overall maintenance costs and improve drainage on Highway 10 northwest of Sauk Rapids.
