Hwy 61 lane closures begin July 11 for bridge concrete repairs north of Red Wing
RED WING, Minn. – Motorists traveling north of Red Wing on Highway 61 will encounter lane closures beginning July 11 while crews repair concrete at a bridge north of Hwy 19, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Several areas of deteriorated concrete are scheduled to be repaired on the bridge over the southern branch of the Cannon River. Motorists will see lane closures for approximately two weeks as crews do the work.
Motorists may encounter lane closures or lane shifts, uneven road surfaces, equipment and other unexpected obstacles when driving near or through work zones. MnDOT advises motorists to:
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Go hands-free and minimize other distractions (e.g., don’t eat or drink while driving).
- Follow posted speed limits; the fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
- Avoid making lane changes within work zones.
