Crews to pour Highway 65 bridge deck in Mora Monday, Sept. 19
Detour for commercial trucks and heavy vehicles while concrete cures
BAXTER, Minn.—MnDOT crews plan to pour the concrete deck surface on the Highway 65/23 bridge over the Snake River in Mora on Monday, Sept. 19.
A 24-hour truck detour will begin at noon to reduce the vibration caused by heavy traffic crossing the bridge while the concrete cures. Commercial trucks and heavy vehicles over 15,000 pounds traveling northbound on Highway 65 or eastbound Highway 23 should follow the detour as follows:
- Eastbound Highway 23: South Highway 65, east Highway 70 Brunswick, north Kanabec County Road 11 back to eastbound Highway 23 east of Mora.
- Northbound Highway 65: East Highway 70 at Brunswick, north Kanabec County Road 11, west Highway 23 back to northbound Highway 65 Mora.
Good weather conditions are necessary to complete this work; the bridge work and truck detour schedule is subject to change. Check 511mn.org for updated information.
Motorists are advised the lanes on Highway 65/23 remain narrow with no shoulders between Division Street and Frontage Road. A width limit of eight feet is still in effect; oversized loads are not permitted in the entire work zone. In addition, pedestrians are NOT allowed on the bridge. Please seek alternate routes.
Drivers approaching the work zone should slow down and be prepared for changes and delays. Use caution; watch for workers and equipment.
When complete in November, the project will provide a new, wider bridge and multi-use trail along the west side from Frontage Road that connects to South Union Street. The project will also improve pedestrian crossing at Division Street and storm water drainage to the Snake River.
