Lane closures, delays begin on Hwy12 between Howard Lake and Montrose Sept. 21
ST. CLOUD, Minn.—Motorists can expect periodic lane closures and short-term delays as crews resurface and improve the rural portions of Hwy12 from east of Sixth Avenue SW in Howard Lake to west of Summerfield Drive in Waverly, and First Street S in Waverly to east of Clementa Avenue in Montrose, Wright County.
Minimal work began in late August, but work operations will ramp up on Wednesday, Sept. 21, as crews mill and pave a new layer of asphalt or resurface. Motorists will encounter some delays and periodic stops. Flaggers will allow alternate one-way traffic with the use of a pilot car through the work zone. Watch for heavy equipment and workers and expect the work zone to change as crews move throughout the day.
All work will occur during daylight hours on good weather days, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, until mid-October.
MnDOT advises travelers to always slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution. Other reminders:
- Never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment
- Obey posted speed limits; fine for a work zone violation is $300
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel
When complete in mid-October, the project will result in a smoother road surface and reduced overall maintenance costs.
