Priority Bridge Replacement Resolutions

By: Marc Briese, State Aid Programs Manager

A reminder that counties and state aid cities should update their high priority bridge replacement/rehabilitation resolutions every one to two years. State Aid uses these resolutions to populate the comprehensive bridge replacement tracking spreadsheet. This document is the basis for the annual Local Bridge Replacement Program (LBRP) report (see most current 2023 LBRP report (PDF)). The comprehensive bridge replacement tracking spreadsheet and the annual reports are used by State Aid to demonstrate need and to develop capital budget requests for the legislative session “bonding years,” which are considered the even numbered years. These documents are also used for lobbying purposes by the Minnesota County Engineers Association (MCEA), City Engineer Association of Minnesota (CEAM), Transportation Alliance, and other organizations that lobby on behalf of local agencies for LBRP funding. As such, it’s very important to have updated and current information.

Please see link below for more information, and for the resolution template that should be used. It’s extremely helpful for us in State Aid to have all resolutions use this template so all information is submitted in the same format and with the same information.
