About this project

Spring through Fall of 2020, MnDOT conducted a study of the Hwy 14 and Highland Avenue intersection in New Ulm to analyze safety and mobility issues. With input from the city of New Ulm, local residents and businesses, the school district, and other project stakeholders, MnDOT evaluated the intersection, developed design alternatives, and arrived at a preferred layout of a single lane roundabout. MnDOT will submit a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) application in an effort to secure funding for 2024 roundabout construction.

Opportunity for public input
Public input was an integral part of the Hwy 14/Highland Avenue intersection study. Throughout Spring/Summer of 2020, the community had opportunities to provide feedback and give input on the project area as well as the design concepts.
