Highway 68/59 detour begins July 14 for BNSF Railway project in Marshall

WILLMAR, Minn. – Beginning July 14, Highway 68/59 will close at the railroad crossing just south of the Highway 68 and Highway 59 junction in Marshall so that BNSF Railway can replace the tracks, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Traffic will be routed to Channel Parkway, Highway 19, 240th Avenue, and Highway 23 (see attached map). The detour is expected to be in place until August 1, depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances. A flagging operation will be in place July 11 while crews complete preliminary work.
In conjunction with the BNSF Railway project, MnDOT will repair catch basins and install drain tile in the area to improve drainage and enhance driver safety.
R and G Construction is the primary contractor for the drainage improvements, and the approximate cost is $227,000.
