Hwy 135 Main Street is closed to traffic. A local detour on 1st Street North and a truck detour on Cty Rd 20 and Cty Rd 4 are active.

Upcoming work

Week of 5/17/2021

  • Begin passenger vehicle detour through town
  • Begin truck detour using County Road 4 and County 20
  • Hwy 135 from 1st Ave to 6th Ave closed, with cross streets remaining open when possible
  • Some temporary city water and sewer interruptions for property owners near West Rail Road Street
  • Milling black top from 1st Ave to 6th Ave
  • Removing concrete from 6th Ave to 3rd Ave

Week of 5/24/2021

  • City sewer and water work from 6th Ave to 4th Ave, Some temporary city water and sewer interruptions

Summary of work

Highway reconstruction including:

  • New pavement
  • Curb and gutter
  • Sidewalk
  • City water main replacement
  • Storm sewer replacement
  • Sanitary sewer replacement

Work Schedule

  • 2020 Construction – May to September, all work except from 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue
  • 2021 Construction – May to October, remaining work between 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue

Complete Streets

MnDOT’s Complete Streets philosophy is being used to better accommodate all users of the corridor. As a part of the philosophy, highway lane and parking widths will be narrowed for traffic calming purposes and to make additional space available for other uses.
