About this project
The 4-legged intersection of Hwy 53 and 9th Street N/County Road 102 in Virginia will be replaced with a 3-legged intersection of Hwy 53 and 9th Street. County Road 102 will be permanently closed and removed due to mining activity in the area. Work associated with intersection reconfiguration includes roadway and trail removal of County Road 102 from Hwy 53 to Parkville Road to the west, pavement replacement on 9th Street between Hwy 53 and Hoover Road, new traffic signal, pavement markings, replace outdated roadway signs, culvert repairs, storm sewer replacement, and ADA improvements.
The Laurentian Divide Recreation Area facility work consists of milling and overlaying the trailhead parking lot pavement, placing new pavement markings, and replacing the pedestrian ramp to comply with ADA standards.
