Fern St. to Main St. closed

Through mid-October

Local traffic: Cambridge is open

  • Access remains open for residents, businesses and visitors within the work zone. Temporary hard closures may occur while crews work on underground utilities
    • Enter and exit as close to your destination as possible, follow posted signs and stay out of barricaded areas.
    • Alternate entrances or side streets may be needed.
  • North/south cross traffic will be able to use Fern St. or Dellwood St. as well as Cypress St. or Birch St.
    • Hwy 95 cross traffic is expected to reopen permanently at Fern St. and Dellwood St. in late July.

Future impacts

Hwy 95 will be constructed in segments over two construction seasons in 2026-2027. The project begins on the west end and moves eastward.

Local access will be open and maintained along each closed segment by using adjacent side streets, second entrances, temporary driveways or alleys. Pedestrian access will also change; follow detour signs.

Summary of work

  • Expand the four-lane segment from Fillmore St. to Ashland St., includes sidewalks and adjacent entrances
  • Reconstruct from Fern St. to Ashland St., includes sidewalks and adjacent entrances
  • Replace underground storm sewer and utilities
  • Upgrade signal systems, overhead streetlights and install fiber optic cable
  • Reconstruct the BNSF railway crossing
