2022 roadwork

Rural areas

MnDOT will resurface and improve the rural areas of Hwy 12 from east of Sixth Ave. SW in Howard Lake to west of Summerfield Dr. in Waverly and First St. S in Waverly to east of Clementa Ave. in Montrose, Wright County.

Aug. 29 to mid-September

  • Work: Repair pipes, roadside slopes and turf and update guardrail along Hwy 12. Google map of work areas
  • Impacts: Minimal. Motorists will encounter crews and equipment along the shoulder at multiple locations. Periodic lane closures may occur.

Mid-September to late October

  • Work: Resuface the asphalt road (mill and overlay), install mumble strips and road markings.
  • Impacts: Expect some delays. Motorists will encounter periodic stops, alternate one way traffic with flaggers a pilot car through the work zone. All work to be done on good weather days from sunrise to sunset. Expect the work zone to change as crews move throughout the day.

When complete in late October the project will provide a smoother road surface, improved drainage and motorists safety along Hwy 12.

Summary of 2024 work

  • Resurface Hwy 12 with a new asphalt road surface from west of 13th Ave. to east of Sixth Ave.
  • Reconstruct or repair concrete curbs, gutters and entrances
  • Improve and update pedestrian access:
    • Reconstruct segments of sidewalks and ramp approaches between 13th Ave. and Sixth Ave.
    • Reconstruct and widen the sidewalk in a two block area in the downtown district between Ninth Ave. and Seventh Ave.
    • Update pedestrian crosswalk signal systems

Montrose

  • Resurface Hwy 12 with a new asphalt surface from east of Clementa Ave. to east of Zephyr Ave. in Montrose
  • Reconstruct or repair concrete curbs, gutters and entrances
  • Add a center turn lane at Zephyr Ave. and Arizona Ave. in east Montrose to improve access.
  • Reconstruct the Hwy 12 intersection at Hwy 25 and Wright Co. Rd. 12/Buffalo Ave. S, to improve the truck turning radius and pedestrian crosswalk
