Project information

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will resurface Highway 55, from the southern junction of County Road 11 in Wendell to the Minnesota/North Dakota state line. Construction began May 16, 2022.

Traffic impacts

  • Highway 55 now open to all traffic!
  • Last week of July/early August: Lane closures during final striping, sign installation, project cleanup.
  • There's a nearby bridge replacement project on Hwy 9, which is closed to traffic. Visit the project website for more information.

Construction staging

Map shows Highway 55 from Barrett to Hoffman as closed. Traffic is being detoured to Highways 59 and 27.

The Highway 55 project was completed in three stages, starting on the east end near Wendell, working west. Stages 2 and 3 were combined.
