Summary of work
MnDOT is planning to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 212 and Hwy 15 near Brownton
Resurfacing will also take place at the intersection of Hwy 15 and the railway for a smoother road surface
The project is currently in its design phase with construction scheduled for 2026
Traffic impacts
A detour will be in place for the roundabout construction work and motorists can expect minor delays traveling through the area
Roundabouts
Project need
- Slow vehicle speeds and lower risk of serious and fatal crashes
- Reduce traffic back-ups and improve traffic flow
- Provide safer pedestrian and bike crossings
Roundabouts show
- 86% decrease in fatal crashes
- 83% decrease in life altering injury crashes
- 42% decrease in all crashes
