Hwy 4 St. James to Ormsby detour begins May 28

MANKATO, Minn. —Hwy 4 from St. James to Ormsby is expected to close on May 28, weather permitting, as the Sherburn to St. James project moves to the second stage of construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Hwy 4 from St. James to Watonwan Co. Rd. 8 near Ormsby will close on May 28 and traffic will be detoured to Watonwan Co. Rds 27 and 8 until late August (see attached map).

Hwy 4 from Sherburn to Watonwan Co. Rd. 8 near Ormsby closed in late April and will remain closed to traffic until late July.

The detour for Hwy 4 Sherburn to St. James traffic is: Martin Co. Rd. 8 near Dunnell, Martin Co. Rd. 13, Interstate 90, Martin Co. Rd.27, and Watonwan Co. Rd. 27.

Additionally, Hwy 4 through Sherburn remains closed until mid-June, with traffic detoured to Martin Co. Rd. 13 and Interstate 90.

The Hwy 4 project between Sherburn and St. James includes roadway, bridge, and drainage improvements. In addition to resurfacing approximately 25 miles of roadway, the bridge over Cedar Run will be replaced and multiple bridges will be repaired. Pedestrian accommodations in the cities of Sherburn and Trimont will also be improved.

Construction on the project is expected to be completed in late August, weather permitting.

Benefits of the project include improved pavement, drainage, and pedestrian accommodations. OMG Midwest was awarded the project with a bid of $20,724,636.58.
