I-35W lane closures in Burnsville begin Oct. 1

Roseville, Minn. – Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 35W in Burnsville will encounter lane and shoulder closures Tuesday, Oct. 1. These lane and road closures are needed as crews begin construction of crossovers for the upcoming 2025-26 bridge replacement and resurfacing project between the I-35/I-35E/35W split and Cliff Road, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, northbound I-35W will be reduced to two lanes at the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split in Burnsville to the Minnesota River bridge through Oct. 31. During these lane closures, the E-ZPass lanes will be open to general traffic between the Burnsville Split and Black Dog Road while the crossover work is completed.

Once crews complete constructing the crossovers on I-35W they will begin constructing crossovers on Highway 13. All crossover works is expected to be complete this fall.
These lane closures are needed as crews construct crossovers for the 2025-26 construction project when crews will replace both pavement and concrete pavement on I-35W, repair or replace bridges at Cliff Road, Highway 13, and the Burnsville Parkway.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present.
