Lane closures on Interstate 94 from Osakis to Alexandria begin April 10

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Starting Thursday, April 10, weather permitting, motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions on Interstate 94 in areas between Osakis and Alexandria, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Crews will be installing traffic control devices in preparation for bridge replacements on eastbound I-94, east of Alexandria.

By the weekend, eastbound traffic will be directed onto the westbound lanes. Through August, there will be one-lane head-to-head traffic through the project area, east of Alexandria, while crews replace the eastbound bridges over the CP Railway and County Road 23. This work is a continuation of the bridge replacements and resurfacing work on the westbound side last year.

While the head-to-head, single lane traffic will be isolated closer to the bridge replacement locations, eastbound traffic will encounter lane closures between the Highway 27 interchange near Osakis and County Road 17. For two to three weeks, the right lane will remain closed to allow crews to complete guardrail replacements at the bridge crossings at County Road 2, County Road 17 and Highway 27.

For more information about the overall project, visit the project website at mndot.gov/d4/projects/alex94bridges/.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
