MnDOT announces $20 million in Transportation Economic Development funding available statewide

ST. PAUL, Minn. —Cities, counties, Tribes and other government entities in Minnesota are encouraged to apply for matching funds for local transportation infrastructure projects that support economic development, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today.

A total of $20 million in matching funds is available through MnDOT’s Transportation Economic Development program for construction projects on the state highway system in Greater Minnesota and the Twin Cities Metro area.

You can learn more about this funding program, and the process to apply through MnDOT’s 2025 TED solicitation website. There you can also find details about a virtual information session available on Thursday, July 10.

Expressions of interest must be submitted online by July 28 at 5 p.m. Applicants who submit an expression of interest will work with MnDOT staff to develop a full application. Full applications are due Friday, Sept. 29. Projects selected for funding will be announced in late 2025.

MnDOT’s TED program is a competitive grant program that helps meet the state’s transportation and economic development needs by creating and preserving well-paying jobs and leveraging private and local investment in transportation infrastructure.

The TED program has provided more than $169 million in grants to 58 projects throughout Minnesota since 2011. This investment leveraged $477 million in local government and private funds. For more information, including lists of past recipients, visit the TED Program website.
