MnDOT seeks public input on Olson Memorial Highway design in Minneapolis
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites community members to share their input on Olson Memorial Highway/Highway 55 in Minneapolis this fall to inform future improvements between Border Avenue/Oak Lake Avenue and the bridge west of Thomas Avenue.
MnDOT will host an in-person meeting from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at PICA Head Start Donald M Fraser Early Childhood Family Development Center, 700 N. Humboldt Ave., Minneapolis. There will be no formal presentation and community members are invited to stop by at any time.
A virtual meeting will follow on Friday, Nov. 14, from noon-1 p.m. This meeting will include a formal presentation on the project as well as time for community members to ask questions. A link to register for the virtual meeting will be available on the MnDOT project website at mndot.gov/metro/projects/olsonmemorialhwy. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions of the project team.
The project team will offer additional opportunities for community members to share input this fall through an online survey and a series of pop-up engagements at local events. Details will be available on the MnDOT project website in early November.
MnDOT is advancing preliminary design work for the project and is seeking feedback to help inform design concepts. The project team will collect input on potential design features that can help achieve priorities shared by the community during a study from August 2022 to May 2025. MnDOT will use the input to develop design alternatives for Olson Memorial Highway that will be shared with the public in 2026 for additional feedback. Design work is expected to continue through 2027 with construction scheduled for 2029.
