Tree clearing begins Monday, April 13 on Hwy 65 in Blaine
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – In preparation for the start of a long-awaited construction project set to begin on Highway 65 in Blaine in early June, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin clearing trees along the west side of Hwy 65 between 99th Ave. and 103rd Way in Blaine. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays through the end of April. Work will be carried out from frontage roads and property along the highway and there will be no impact on traffic. However motorists should watch for trucks moving on and off the highway from 99th Ave and 103rd Way.
The four-year project will convert the existing at-grade intersections at 99th Ave., 105th Ave., 109th Ave. and 117th Ave./Cloud Dr. into interchanges, with Hwy 65 traveling above.
The project also includes a pedestrian bridge across the new freeway between 113th and 114th Avenues, rerouting existing local street/driveway connections using frontage/backage roads between 97th Ave. and 125th Ave. along with reconstructing existing sidewalk along the road to meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards.
When completed in the summer of 2030, this project will provide a smoother road surface and extend pavement life, enhance accessibility, reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and improve safety along the road.
