Hwy 10 detour in Wadena extends to Verndale May 26
BAXTER, Minn. – Starting Tuesday, May 26, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close Hwy 10 between Wadena Co. Rd. 4 and Oink Joint Road/140th Street in Wadena for approximately five weeks.
What to expect May 26 to early July:
- Hwy 10 will be closed from Wadena Co. Rd. 4 to Oink Joint Road
- DETOUR: Motorists will be directed along the detour that uses Wadena County Road 4 and Wadena Co. Rd. 23. Hwy 10 extended to Verndale detour map (PNG)
- Watch for a temporary all-way stop at the intersection of Co. Rd. 4 and Co.Rd. 23.
- Hwy 10 will remain open east and west of the closed area.
- Plan for delays and pay close attention to work zone signage.
- Access will be maintained for those who live, work or visit locations within the work zone but temporary hard closures will occur.
In late June, crews will begin work on Hwy 29 from Hwy 71 to the west limits of Wadena and on Hwy 71 between Franklin Avenue S and Aldrich Avenue S. Overall, each work zone will be open to one lane, each direction with narrow lanes, lane shifts and flaggers.
When the project is completed in August 2027, travelers will benefit from a smoother, more durable and expanded four-lane highway. Improvements will also enhance safety, drainage and city services in Wadena.
