Portion of eastbound I-394 in Minneapolis to close for Oct. 16-19 weekend
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Crews will close eastbound Interstate 394 between I-94 and downtown Minneapolis starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 through 5 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. I-94 will remain open during the I-394 closure. This construction is part of a major project that is repairing 30-plus bridges that carry I-394 and I-94.
The exit ramps on 3rd Avenue, 4th Street, North 6th Street and North 12th Street will also be closed. View the project website to view detour maps.
“Crews have been making great progress on this important project and work is on track to be completed in November,” said Tim Nelson, Director of Construction, Surveys and Materials at MnDOT Metro District. “This weekend closure is a big milestone as it is the final scheduled weekend closure of I-394 for this project.”
This closure will allow crews to safely paint the bridges, which requires dry and relatively warm conditions. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change.
Following this weekend closure, motorists can expect occasional, overnight, directional closures of I-394.
MnDOT urges drivers to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
Check 511 for real-time traffic updates and plan for additional travel time to reach destinations.
