State Aid for Local Transportation

E-Scene December 2024

Funding still available for IIJA

By: Elisa Bottos, State Aid Project Delivery Engineer

In Minnesota, cities, counties, tribes, and the state have been awarded hundreds of millions of dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill - Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA) from various discretionary grant opportunities. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill - IIJA, expires in 2026 – with less than two years left, there is still time to apply for transportation funding grants.

This is a reminder that you can find open transportation grant opportunities on our State Aid IIJA webpage.

There are also a lot of other resources on the State Aid IIJA webpage, including: tips for winning federal transportation grants, grant applications 101 for local agencies and tribes, and grant application resources to help with applications for federal discretionary grants.

Also please be reminded that state funding may be available to help with federal transportation discretionary grant applications, as well as state funds available to use as matching funds for eligible grants. Apply for technical assistance and state matching funds on the
State Funded Programs for IIJA Discretionary Grant Assistance webpage.
