Background

Car crashes have been a concern on Hwy 12 in western Hennepin County. MnDOT has made numerous improvements between Orono and Delano, including adding median barrier, left turn lanes, safety poles, electronic messaging and sensors that tell motorists when the road is icy.

In 2021, MnDOT will add a roundabout at Co. Rd. 90 and median barrier between Co. Rd. 6 and Baker Rd. Hennepin County will build a new intersection at Co. Rd. 92 that includes a bridge over the railroad and a roundabout connecting Co. Rd. 92 at Hwy 12.
