About the project

• Resurface Hwy 59 between Pennington County Road 53 and Thief River Falls and construct a roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 59 with Pennington County Road 3
• Shoulder widening from Thief River Falls to Pennington County Road 3
• Culvert replacements
• Roundabout at Pennington County Road 3

Staging and detours

Staging durations are approximate. The project will begin May 15 and is expected to be complete mid-August, weather permitting.

Stage 1: (2-3 weeks)

• Install box culverts near Pennington CR 7 and Pennington CR 53
• Construct temporary bypass lane at Pennington CR 3 (roundabout)

Stage 2: (7 weeks)

• Construct roundabout at Pennington CR 3
• Shoulder widening

Stage 3: (2-3 weeks)

• Remove bypass lane at roundabout
• Open roundabout north, south and west legs
• Construct east leg of roundabout
• Complete resurfacing rest of corridor
