Design options for public consideration
MnDOT will be designing an RCI at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road 60 in Otter Tail County. As part of its outreach, MnDOT is requesting the public's feedback on the RCI design by bringing forward two options for public consideration.
*In both designs, sidewalks will be installed for pedestrian accessibility.
RCI - Option 1, Median U-Turn
The first design option is the Median U-turn (MUT). With this type of RCI, the center median would be closed. This would eliminate left-turn movements. Motorists would instead turn right, followed by a downstream U-turn.
RCI - Option 2, Restricted Crossing U-Turn
The second design option is the restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT). With this type of RCI, the U-turn design is essentially the same as the MUT (option 1), but the center median would remain open for Highway 10 traffic to turn left onto County Road 60.
