MnDOT hosted informational meetings to help area businesses and organizations prepare for Hwy 169 construction starting in 2027. Two meeting times were available, and both covered the same information. The project team presented an overview of the project, detour routes, and access during construction, followed by time for questions and conversation with staff.

Public Notice and Opportunity for Comment
July 30th, 2025
In accordance with 23 CFR 774.5, MnDOT solicited comments on the effects the Hwy 169 project would have on Riverview Park. To minimize traffic along the segment south of Webster Avenue during construction, the sanitary dump facilities at Riverview Park will be closed. Other facilities at the park, the restrooms, and Rex MacBeth trail connection will remain open to the public. There may be a temporary closure of some park facilities when Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) work on sidewalks is taking place, but this work will be short in comparison to the entire project.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) made a preliminary determination that the proposed action at Riverview Park is a Section 4(f) de minimis action in accordance with 23 CFR 774.5, conditioned on public review and comment. A de minimis finding may be made when uses of Section 4(f) land will have no adverse effect on the protected resources.
Comments specific to the Riverview Park impacts were submitted on or before July 30th, 2025, and became part of the official record and will be considered when making future project-related decisions.

Corridor Study
The Mankato/North Mankato Area Planning Organization (MAPO) and MnDOT conducted a Hwy 169 Corridor Study in 2019-2021 that combined input from all MAPO partners, local residents, businesses, bike and walk advocacy groups, and other project stakeholders to arrive at roadway concepts reflective of the future transportation needs on Hwy 169 through Mankato and North Mankato. This input was a key consideration in developing alternatives that are reflective in the Hwy 169 revitalization project.
