History and significance
Bridge 7423 is a single-span, reinforced-concrete, through arch bridge constructed c.1917. It formerly carried County Road 421 over the Swan River in Itasca County, but was closed to traffic in 2005 due to the critical condition of its substructure. The bridge is significant as an excellent example of the patented Marsh Rainbow Arch design and for its association with important bridge designer James Barney Marsh.
