About this study

In coordination with Dakota County and the cities of Inver Grove Heights, Eagan and Rosemount, we are studying 12.5 miles of Hwy 3 from Hwy 62 in Inver Grove Heights to 160th St. (Co. Rd. 46) in Rosemount. The goal is to identify safety improvements for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians, and ensure the route works well into the future. It also will help shape future projects by setting clear goals, supporting area-wide priorities, and creating a plan for responsible growth.
The public will have opportunities to share their input both in-person and online to help shape the study. We will be asking for feedback on:
- How people use the highway today
- How future growth could impact travel
- How people get to and from nearby roads, whether by car, bike, bus, or foot
Summary of work
- The study team will look at current and future traffic, environmental factors, access points, and crash history. Public input will help shape the initial design ideas. After this information has been collected, a report will be provided to partner agencies that will outline recommended improvements, funding strategies, and a plan for putting the changes in place.
