I-35 on- and off-ramps at Hwy 60 reopen to traffic in Faribault

FARIBAULT, Minn. – Interstate 35 on-and off-ramps at Highway 60 have reopened to traffic and the ramp improvements are completed, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

This work is part of the I-35 resurfacing project. The ramps have been closed since July 23 while the following improvements were made.

  • Changed the southbound I-35 off ramp to allow for better deceleration and reduced run-off-the-road crashes.
  • Altered the northbound I-35 off ramp and removed the eastbound leg of ramp. All traffic will come to a stop at the end of the off-ramp and continue to their destination.
  • Changed the northbound I-35 on-ramp to improve acceleration and merging onto I-35.

Other work continues to progress with the I-35 resurfacing project. The traffic signal replacement at Highway 60 and 30th Avenue NW is nearing completion, and the signals are expected to be fully operational on Oct. 17. They have been in stop-flash mode in the interim. I-35 resurfacing is almost finished, and crews are working on guardrail and lighting installation. It is anticipated that all work will be completed by late-October.
